Terms & Conditions of hire

AMK SELF DRIVE reserves the right to refuse rental and to amend terms and conditions without notice. All hires are subject to availability, hirer’s are bound by the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.

Driver Requirements

Drivers must be aged 23 years and over (25 for minibuses and group 6 and above vehicles) and hold a full category British Driving Licence for the type of vehicle hired.  Overseas visitors must produce a valid Domestic Licence or an International Driving Permit accompanied by a valid Passport. Drivers are required to have held a full Driving Licence for a minimum of 2 years and have a clean driving record although endorsed licences may be accepted and additional insurance costs may apply.

No person other than the hirer or approved additional drivers are permitted to drive the vehicle hired .

Seatbelts must be worn at all times as required by UK law. Drivers are legally responsible for ensuring all passengers under 14 years of age are appropriately restrained within the vehicle. Children up to 135 cm (4 feet 5 inches) in height or 12 years of age must use an appropriate child restraint by law.

Please also note that mobile phones cannot be used while driving a vehicle in the United Kingdom

IDENTIFICATION

All Hirer’s are required to produce the following as proof of Identity:-

For your signature:-               Valid Debit or Credit Card.

For your current address :-  Current Bank or Credit Card Statement or an up to date utility bill.

Hirer’s with new style Photo I.D. Card Driving Licence must produce both the Photo Card and the paper Counterpart of Licence.

Please note that the Photo I.D. Card Licence is not acceptable without the Counterpart.

As of the 8th June DVLA are abolishing the counterpart and customers will need to provide their National Insurance number as well as Photo Card

Payment

A refundable deposit of £100.00 ( £200.00 for Executive and Specialist cars) is applicable to all hires and must be paid in advance or on collection of vehicle.

All hire charges must be paid in advance, or on collection of vehicle.

Extension of hire will be given where possible and payment must be made before lapse of the original hire period.

Please note that all hirers are liable for an Insurance Excess in the event of the hire vehicle being damaged or stolen.

Advance Reservations

Advance Reservations

A reservation charge of £50.00 is required to book a vehicle. This is not refundable if cancelled.

Any extensions of hire must be notified to us and any further payments must be paid before the lapse of the original hire period.

Failure to notify us and make payment of a hire extension will result in the vehicle NOT being insured and may be reported stolen.

Additional Options

We recommend you add the following insurances to your hire package:-

GLASS INSURANCE

This is a charge which reduces your liabilty for damage to glass and windscreens

from £100.00 and £200.00 on higher excess vehicles to zero

Theft Insurance

To reduce the theft excess from £500.00 to £100.00
